What's the right order to roll AI out across sales, ops and finance?

Short answer
There's no fixed order. Start where you can verify the return fastest, and let an audit map pick the workflow. Sales and marketing is often the shortest loop because it sits closest to revenue. But the right first workflow is wherever the pain is biggest and easiest to measure, and sometimes that's the back office.

To be honest, there's no fixed order. You start where you can verify the returns the fastest, and let the audit map pick the workflow. Sales and marketing is often the shortest loop, because it's the closest to revenue, and so it's easiest to track where you've moved the needle. But the first right workflow is wherever your pain is biggest and most easily measured. Sometimes that's marketing. Sometimes that's back office, a process that's eating whole days that nobody upstairs can see.
We audited a builder recently, and the biggest pools of manual work were nowhere near marketing. They were in proposal packs and QA reviews. More than 120 days across just those two streams of work. The map picked that up. A rule of thumb would have picked you the wrong one.
So don't follow a sequence. Follow the numbers. Look at the data. Map the work. Rank it by return and how fast you can verify it. And then ship from the top of that list.
