What's the difference between an AI agency that builds agents for you and one that trains your team?

Short answer

One leaves you with an agent. The other leaves you with a team that can build the next 10. The build-for-you agency ships something that works on demo day. When your process changes, the agent breaks or the model updates, you're back in their ticket queue, paying maintenance on something nobody in your business understands.

Do this week

Before you sign with anyone, ask who fixes it when it breaks at 5pm on a Friday. Listen for whether the answer includes your own people.

One leaves you with an agent, and the other leaves you with a team that can build the next 10. The build-for-you agency ships something that works on demo day. Then your process changes, or the agent breaks, or the model updates, and you're back in the ticket queue, paying maintenance on a thing that nobody in your business understands and no longer trusts.

The build-with-you version is slower on day one, because your people are in the room learning, but it's faster every day after that. We've watched this play out time and time again, long enough to build our whole model around it. Anyone can demo the first run. We get judged on the second one, and the third, and the fourth. Your team running it without us.

Before you sign with anyone, ask this: when it breaks at 5pm on a Friday, who's fixing that? Listen for the answer, and whether or not that includes your own people. Who shouldn't be working at five, by the way.
